last week, I found what I thought were a few solutions to problems that I was having...
The major problem that I was having was my inability to fit all of the pictures that I had for each trip onto one single spread. If you look at my previous post, you'll see that I found a solution! I went out and bought some Washi tape to match my Food and Wine spread, and I was ready to go! I had the pictures, slapped them on there with Washi tape, and then it hit me. When I put the page in the clear sleeve....
You can't flip the pictures.
It was he biggest let down ever. I had already trimmed the pictures, had them matted, and ready to go, and then my idea crashed and burned. So I had to find a new way to fit them onto the page. Seeing as how they were trimmed, which really only worked conveniently for this page because I could trim them down- I can't always, I had a little bit of room to twist and turn them until they could fit.
Trimming them up did help, but I definitely am going to have to find a more elegant solution in the future. The next trip is our first Christmas trip, and there are a TON of pictures. I'm not that great when it comes to making decisions and leaving things out!
The other thing I was going to try to do was write on the paper. Well, this was plan #2 that was foiled by my materials. The patterned background paper completely swallowed the writing, so I had to find a way to cover it up. I did follow a similar layout to the spread I used to inspire the written portion by creating a "title" like page on the left. But instead of writing, I used....

More pictures.
look at all the embellishments!
I found out how difficult it is to pull off the "busy- but cute!" thing... I wonder if my page colors were just too similar? I tried to use some patterned and TEXTURED (my new favorite) paper to jazz things up... Here's a close-up of my new favorite textured paper:
Shiny and soft! How wonderful this paper is! It made a great matting material for my major artifact from this trip- the F&W Festival Menu! Combined with my new map-effect letters and 3D stickers, this spread was certainly bedazzled enough without needing to use my maps and punches for it. This is the first spread that I didn't use my punches- woah! I'll try out those researched ideas in the next spread when I have some more time and materials to use. :)
So the final spread.... drumroll please!
Complete with alternating background pages (the first time I have attempted this), textured paper, 3D stickers, extra pictures, new pictorial letter stickers, and 2 major artifacts, I really love this spread!
